Shipped is better than perfect
I can only think of once sentence that is truer than this. This is something that I struggle with, and that I keep battling, like many people I’m sure. If comparison is the thief of joy, then perfectionism is the thief of accomplishment.
You may have the best business idea or the best piece of art or the best plan to accomplish something, but if you don’t get out there and actually set up shop, somebody less prepared is going to beat you to it.
Confronting yourself to reality is the best way to improve, because whatever concerns you have in your head do not reflect the reality on the ground.
So if you’re reading this and you’re like me, don’t overthink it. Just push to production, and get input from users as early as possibly, so you can course correct in a way that is going to be beneficial to them.
I know it’s difficult because you probably have set extremly high standards for yourself, but time is the only thing that doesn’t come back.
So in conclusion, yes, shipped is definetly better than perfect.
